BIO

My name is Rodney Torres. I'm a native New Yorker of Colombian descent. I was born, raised, and currently reside in Queens, NY. I started skateboarding in 1990 and I haven't put the board down since.

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate enough to have seen a lot of the world while riding a skateboard on sponsored tours, and I’m grateful to have had the chance to skate, promote, and endorse products for such reputable brands as Rhythm, ZooYork, Arcade, L.R.G., and Osiris. But no matter how far
I've traveled, I have always been dedicated to my hometown, and have worked hard to support the local community and scene here in New York City.

Over the years, I've done a lot of work behind the scenes, from directing local company videos, such as the Rock Star Bearings video, "America Eats It's Young," to running skate shops, recruiting new talent for local skateboard companies, promoting numerous video premieres and judging all sorts of contests, including the 2008 & 2009 Red Bull Manny Mania and the 2010
Maloof Money Cup Competition.

I've also had the opportunity to cover events as a writer for the Transworld Skateboarding website, and as a field correspondent for The Daily Habit on Fuel TV.

Most recently, I have worked with Open Road of New York, CA Skate Parks, the NYC Parks Department, and local skateboarders to create a permanent home for the NYC skateboarding community in Queens, by building the Flushing Meadows’ Skate Park for the June 2010 Maloof Money Cup competition.

Presently, I'm maintaining an active role in skateboarding, as one of the original professional skateboarders to come out of New York City, while continuing to venture into the many different aspects of the skateboard industry. This website is a direct representation and recognition of my accomplishments - past, present, and into the future.
